How Bismillah Restaurant & Bakery compares with other restaurants in Paterson

Before you go

  • Ask about allergens when you order: US food law names nine major allergens (milk, eggs, fish, shellfish, tree nuts, peanuts, wheat, soy and sesame), and kitchens can tell you which dishes contain them.
  • Restaurant inspection results are kept by the city or county health department; many publish them online or post the latest grade at the door.
  • For table service a tip of 15–20% is customary; at counter-service places tipping is optional.

When I order food , they always pack stale and rotten food and don't serve fresh food. Feeling embarrassed in front of my guests. The quality of the food is absolutely bad. Very poor service. I would never recommend anyone else.

We have very bad experience with the food (Briyani) with them. Happened 2 times with us. First time we bought a single briyani and it was totally spoiled. Second time we ordered half tray and same result. We got refund but this is very unexpected. I’ll never go back to this shop again.

Ordered these three chicken pieces for iftaar one chicken lollipop and two other chicken pieces and they had a very weird plasticy/synthetic smell to them. Force myself to take a bit but regretted it, threw all three chickens away, what a waste of money. I don’t know what that smell could be…

Had an amazing Bangladeshi food experience here. We had dinner and came back for brunch the next day. 10$ breakfast with luchi / porota, alu bhaji, daal and shuji and egg was a great deal and delicious. Peyaju, Shingara, samucha, tea was really good. Chicken roll was average. Halim was amazing. We also tried chicken biriyani, beef vuna, naan, chicken roast. Everything was great, although chicken roast was a spicy version, and not the typical Bangladeshi biye barir roast. Their hospitality was really great. Realizing we came from out of state, and seeing our enthusiasm about the food, they gave us a box of roshomalai to try. That was a very sweet touch on top of our already really good food experience. For the other people who left bad reviews (eg about butter chicken), my suggestion would be to not try a butter chicken in a Bangladeshi restaurant, and instead try the authentic Bangladeshi dishes. Then you won’t be disappointed.
